Designing and creating puppets

As part of our topic on toys we designed a puppet using a wooden spoon. We all came up with different designs. We then evaluated our puppet. We thought about how we made it, what we liked about our puppet and what we would improve and change.

Christmas concert

Our Christmas concert 2016

We all had a part to play in the concert. We were either dancers, narrators or shepherds. What was your favourite song?

Fractions - halving and quartering

As part of our learning on halves in maths, we practised halving play dough. Then we showed how to halve shapes using Hama beads. Finally we halved some cakes and ate one half in the maths lesson and one half at break time - yum yum! How many pieces of the shape will you have if you halve it? Can you half an apple, a banana or a pear at home?

On the next day, we investigated quartering shapes including a square and rectangle. We then used our findings to quarter a jam sandwich and share it between four people.

Can you quarter a circle? How many parts do you fold it into?
Can you halve a triangle. How many parts do you fold it into?

Addition

Look at us learning about the equals sign. It balances the number sentence. What amounts can you add together?
